"The practice was established in 1946 when Sydney Ancher started on his own after the war. It later became a partnership with Bryce Mortlock and Stuart Murray in 1951 and Ken Woolley joined in 1964. The size of the practice gradually expanded over the years, and Ancher, Murray and Mortlock have all retired.
"Ken Woolley became the sole principal of Ancher Mortlock & Woolley Pty Ltd in May 1985. Subsequently, in July 2002 Dale Swan and Phil Baigent joined Ken as principals and in July 2003 Lynn Vlismas became a principal before recently retiring.

AMW is experienced in the provision of architectural design, documentation and contract administration consultancy services for a broad range of building types. It also provides functional/technical briefing formulation, masterplanning, urban design and interior design services. The practice has undertaken many projects within Australia, the Pacific Rim region, South East Asia and China, working in all the fields of architecture and urban design, on commissions from single private houses to major public buildings and city masterplans.
