[edit] Discussion
"The focus of the design is the `sheltering roof` a favourite concept adhered to by Taglietti. Here it is expressed in sweeping horizontal planes, tiered in a pagoda like form but also evocative of the prairie houses of Frank Lloyd Wright. In this building Taglietti`s wide cantilevered eaves disguise the balcony function, adding seclusion appropriate to its private functions. A unified palette of materials and colour comprising terracotta tiles, clay bricks, timber joinery and timber lined eaves as presented in this building, is typical of organic architecture. It is valued by the local architectural community and was awarded the Certificate of Merit for Architecture for the consecutive years 1979, 1980 and 1981. (Criterion F, Australian Historic Theme: 8.10.4 Designing and building fine buildings)" [1]
