"Chatham's new athletics building stands at the edge of the campus on a narrow, steep site beside a residential neighborhood. Its swimming pool is below grade, with the gymnasium stacked above. This approach allows the south facade to have a scale appropriate for the adjacent neighborhood. The project includes an eight-lane, 25-yard swimming pool; a whirlpool; sauna and steam rooms; a dance/aerobics room; a fitness area; conference rooms; squash courts; and a three-lane running track surrounding the two-court gymnasium.
