"The Blattner’s sought out a design/build team that believed in team work, would help them create a building to sustain the company’s growth for the next ten years, and reinforce their corporate brand in the wind energy business with sustainable design practices. All these factors were strengths of the design/build team of Knutson Construction Services, URS Corporation, and Studio Hive.
The building was designed to reflect the values and culture of the firm with the direct input of Blattner’s senior management and all department heads. Leadership, collaboration and maintaining open communication were key values to the design process. The result of applying these values is a facility that responds to the corporate needs and personal success of all employees."
"The building was designed to achieve the Platinum level by incorporating numerous sustainable features such as restoring habitat, proper storm water design and alternative transportation. No irrigation will be used for landscaping and innovative waste technologies will be implemented to reduce water consumption inside the building. The most significant innovation and design credit was the use of wells, ground source heat pumps and ice storage as a source of heating and cooling to optimize energy use."
"The building uses green power, operates with a wind turbine and is fully commissioned with measurement and verification of operating systems to conserve energy. More then 20% of the building materials are of recycled content and supplied within a 500 mile radius, and during construction, more then 75% of construction waste was recycled. Interior finishes were carefully chosen to limit toxic emissions. The building allows employees to conserve energy by providing controllability of lighting and thermal systems."—Knutson Construction
