[edit] Profile

Brook Architecture, Inc. is a client-focused architectural firm providing design, urban planning, consulting, and project management to private owners, public agencies, developers, and non-profit organizations. Founded in 1995 by RaMona Westbrook and located in Historic Motor Row District, Brook employs a staff of eight design professionals.

Brook Architecture begins each project by listening and clarifying the client’s vision and objectives. We document the client’s requirements and the existing conditions to create an accurate framework for our designs. We embrace the physical context of each project, identify its inherent beauty and challenges, and respond to it in our design solutions.

However, our talent extends beyond just the design. By managing all our projects with meticulous attention to budget and schedule, we are able to exceed our clients’ expectations and return significant value for the dollars invested in our services.

Brook Architecture’s project experience includes the new construction of a variety of educational, residential, office and retail spaces. Also experts in renovation, Brook Architecture excels in transforming long-neglected buildings into beautiful places to live, work, and learn.

[edit] Leadership

RaMona Westbrook, founding principal of Brook Architecture, provides architectural service to commercial developers, real estate executives and end-users both locally and nationally. Ms. Westbrook’s extensive project management expertise and CAD knowledge makes her input especially valuable early in the design process.

Prior to creating Brook Architecture, Ms. Westbrook held the position of Project Architect with one of the top five architecture/engineering firms in the country. She was responsible for all phases of architectural design services and often led the design team on major projects.

Upon receiving her Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois, Ms. Westbrook relocated to the East Coast where she began her career as an intern architect for a large interior architecture firm. From there she returned to Chicago to continue her career with a multi- disciplined architecture/engineering firm. In 1992, Ms. Westbrook became one of the first African-American women to be licensed as an Architect in the State of Illinois.

Dedicated to developing greater appreciation for art and architecture in her community, Ms. Westbrook often facilitates youth oriented workshops. She has served on the board for Illinois National Organization of Minority Architects and presently serves on the Board for both the American Institute of Architects and The Vivian G. Harsh Society. The Chicago Defender Newspaper has recognized Ms. Westbrook for her contributions to the community.

A native Chicagoan, Ms. Westbrook enjoys attending jazz, blues and gospel concerts and viewing dance performances and still, an occasional Bull’s game.
