"To preserve and enhance green space and allow for safer pedestrian traffic, Lehigh closed a number of campus roads to vehicular traffic. The former roads were converted into pedestrian zones, although they still allow access for emergency and service vehicles. The adjacent existing sidewalks are being removed to increase the amount of green space on the campus. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
