[edit] Discussion

The Caramoor Center hosts a four season concert festival in a 240 acre setting of delightful gardens and Spanish and Italian Renaissance buildings in Bedford NY. The Diane Moss Education Center was established to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to education in the arts.

The existing building was an old Italian Renaissance carriage barn dating back to the early 20th century. It contained considerable open spaces which were suitable for the creation of Caramoor’s new program for arts education.

The structure was carefully renovated and restored to its original character. Spaces were created for performance arts, lectures and workshops for visual and architectural arts programs, as well as staff offices and meeting rooms. New additions provided a circulation spine, public facilities and an inviting new entry in keeping with the architectural character of Caramoor. The feeling of the old barn is still in evidence in the interior. Quirky details were preserved to remind one of the building’s history.
