"This project renovated an existing library and added more than 50,000 square feet of space to it. The building now houses both the library and the university's information-technology staff. Among other changes, a new fifth floor was constructed, with a separate outside entrance that leads to a cafe, a 24-hour study area, and several other spaces. And a robotic storage/retrieval mechanism was added that delivers books to the circulation desk in minutes. It is housed in a vault approximately 30 feet high by 115 feet long that holds about 500,000 volumes. The most commonly requested books will be kept on regular shelves for browsing; older materials will be placed in the robotic system. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
