"The AIA Maryland Design Awards competition occurs each year in August, with recognition of winning projects at the Design Awards Banquet in September. AIA Maryland celebrates the design accomplishments of architects in Maryland with this annual event. The competition is open to individual members and firms whose principals are members of the AIA Maryland and honors designs in a variety of categories. The Design Awards program aims to encourage and recognize distinguished architectural achievement and focus public attention on the Architect's role in shaping the quality of life through design excellence." – Maryland AIA
