Mepkin Abbey - Claire Luce Booth Library, Moncks Corner, South Carolina Designed by Chris Coonan while practicing at Bentz Thompson Rietow Architects in Minneapolis, MN. The Library is a state of the art facility to house a rare book collection of Mepkin, Trappist Monks. The benefactor of the project is Henry Luce, of Time/Life fame. The project was featured on PBS, and is also a recipient of an AIA MN award, and publication in AIA Minnesota Magazine.

Buscher Residence, Algona, Iowa: A significant luxury single family residence, featured in the Des Moines Register. The project has many phases and has been constructed over a 15 year time frame from 1994 to 2009.

Perky Parrot Cafe & Martini Bar, Algona, Iowa - a novel concept of coffee and sandwich cafe by day, sophisticated 1940's decor Martini Bar by night. The project opened in the Spring of 2009.

Redondo Beach Target Store, Redondo Beach, California. A novel new approach to big box retail, on a crowded urban site. The store is elevated above the parking field, which sits on grade. The project was the precedent for at least 40 unique projects built by Target over the past 7 years. Coonan designed and managed the project while at Target, and then later at MBH Architects, the Architect of Record for the project.

Shea's Marina University Villages - Marina, CA. Coonan reworked the design of most of the retail buildings which were built on Shea's redo of the Fort Ord Military Base. The project is open and operating since 2006.

Silverthorne, Colorado Target Store - Coonan's design of the Alpine style Target includes local boulders, river rock, peeled pine poles, a silver standing seam metal roof, and special features such as a log pylon sign, a bus stop shelter, and a regionally adapted site plan, that has heated sidewalks. The project is the highest elevation the retailer has operated in.

Hilton Head, South Carolina Target Store. Coonan designed in his early years with Target, a Low Country style facade, with significant landscaping to fit the vernacular of Hilton Head Island.

Loveland, Colorado Target Store. Coonan designed this building in a style which would befit the Town's position as an artist community at the gateway to the mountain road which leads to Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park. The building includes a significant glu lam beam tower, and stone base.

Coonan Residence, Glen Ellyn, IL. A unique house with upstairs office, near downtown Glen Ellyn, a town on the Metra Train line to Chicago.

Minocqua, Wisconsin House. A proposed 2 story craftsman style residence.

University Heights, OH Target store. A 3 level building in a modern classical style, on the East side of Cleveland, Ohio.

Palm Desert Lifestyle Center, Palm Desert, California. A proposed 1 million square foot mixed use project for RED Development.

Portland Meadows Lifestyle Center, Portland, Oregon. A proposed 900,000sf shopping center for CenterCAL.
