Commentary
"On rocky tree-planted ground near the centre of this rapidly growing town, 45km (28 miles) north of Helsinki, stands this church of unusual triangular outline. It was designed by Aarno Ruusuvuori in 1961, following a competition.... The building has a rhomboidal plan divided from corner to corner, so that the church itself, occupying half the area, is triangular in plan. It is also triangular in section, rising to a peak in the centre of the building. The other half is also triangular in section but not so high, allowing clerestory lighting into the church above the gallery. The building is of reinforced concrete with the long sloping ribs filled in with glass or precast concrete slabs."
