This is a major addition to a 100+ year old cabin located near Lake Övre Gla in the Glaskogen nature reserve in Sweden. The addition features roughly rectangular interior enclosed by irregular wood space frames which form an undulating exterior wall, finished in Red Cedar shingles. The size of the addition is variable thanks to a unique structural design which inserts a smaller space-frame structure into the end of the first. The smaller unit is capable of cantilevering around 10 feet out from the end of the first, exposing several windows.
The addition was built in response to austere design restraints imposed by the Swedish government on construction within a nature preserve. Materials were selected for longevity and geographic and cultural contextuality.
