[edit] Discussion
The San Francisco, California-based firm began in 1946 when Joseph Esherick (1914-1998) founded his architectural practice. In 1972 associates George Homsey, Peter Dodge, and Charles Davis became principals and the firm was renamed Esherick Homsey Dodge and Davis. Charles Davis remains the senior principal while George Homsey and Peter Dodge are currently consultants to the firm. As of 2011, EHDD is celebrating its 65th anniversary.
[edit] Awards
EHDD has received more than 100 design awards and honors, including the Firm of the Year and the Gold Medal Awards from the national American Institute of Architects and the Architectural Firm Award from the AIA California Council. The AIA California Council awarded the Bernard Maybeck Award to Joseph Esherick, FAIA in 1992, to Chuck Davis, FAIA in 2003, and to George Homsey, FAIA in 2006.
