"Manhattanville's new half-acre teaching and recreational park includes two small buildings -- a LEED-certified classroom designed by Maya Lin, and a historic stone chapel for which Ms. Lin designed a translucent roof intended to make it a place for contemplation. The classroom building, constructed of sustainably harvested wood and glass, is heated by the sun and cooled by sunshade louvers. It is meant for environmental-studies classes.
