The Bull Mansion/G.A.R. Hall Building is a preservation success story. Commissioned by Daniel Wesson in 1876 as a wedding gift for his daughter, renowned architect Calvert Vaux designed the Bull Mansion in the High Victorian Gothic style. The building has a granite exterior and high-pitched roof and dormers. In 1912, the local Grand Army of the Republic chapter purchased the Bull Mansion, adding a meeting hall and banquet hall to the rear of the building. By the 1930s, the G.A.R. chapter transferred ownership to the city of Worcester, because they were unable keep up with the building's maintenance.
