[edit] Overview of Greensburg, Kansas
On May 7, 2007, most of the structures in Greensburg were destroyed by a FE5 tornado.
Architecture firm BNIM designed the first phase of a new master plan for the city of Greensburg, as well as multiple new buildings. As a part of its rebuilding effort the city now mandates that all public buildings receive LEED Platinum certification.
Some privately owned buildings, such as the BTI John Deere Dealership have also opted to pursue LEED Platinum certification.
