"A Tufts affiliate, Walnut Hill Properties, bought the school from the City of Medford for $801,852. The building was renovated into 12 apartments, nine for faculty members and three to be made available to local residents as affordable housing. Sustainable design was a goal of the project. The building has a new white synthetic-rubber roof designed not to trap heat. Renewable materials used in the renovation included cork flooring and cellulose insulation made from old newspapers. Much of the material used in the project was acquired within 500 miles of Medford to save on energy used for transportation. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
