"The James B. Duke Library, constructed in 1958, was almost doubled in size with the addition of the 52,000-square-foot Charlie Peace Wing. As part of the same project, the original building was renovated and its infrastructure was upgraded. The expanded facility includes specialized computing areas, new group-study rooms, and a 24-hour study and computing area. The project doubled the capacity of the library's stack's to 800,000 volumes, and tripled the amount of seating. The university followed LEED standards for sustainable design and construction, with the goal of achieving certification at the silver level. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
