[edit] Focus

Jeff Lendrum has built a successful 23-year career on creative problem-solving through photography. He seeks out more than one approach to meet the objectives of each assignment, providing clients with multiple photographic choices. Chances are you’ll go with the “photographer’s choice” but there are always more options that meet the mark. In fact, the toughest decision you’ll have to make when working with Jeff is how to incorporate all that extra material into your project.

After earning a B.F.A. from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Calif., Jeff chose to spend a year focused solely on twilight photography, studying the effects of light on location assignments. This fascination has stayed with him throughout his career. Today, he is still immersed in the pursuit he calls, “chasing the light.” The approach lends itself to an understanding of the unique needs of architectural assignments where he works with natural light and camera techniques to enhance interior and exterior projects.

Jeff thrives on location assignments where the environment is less controlled and the outcome more spontaneous. Changing weather conditions and other environmental factors only present an opportunity to provide a new perspective. A changing sky. An alternative angle. A concept you originally would not have considered.

On corporate and advertising assignments, Jeff has found a way to deliver that same spontaneity while working inside a studio. His enthusiasm for his subject matter and affinity for the people he photographs creates a dynamic atmosphere that draws in everyone involved – from the people in front of the camera to the people behind the scenes. Anything is allowed to happen on the shoot. And when it does, Jeff is right there to capture it for you.

Jeff’s strengths as a photographer are showcased in two book projects for the Harley-Davidson Museum. Under Construction (released in June 2008) chronicles the building of the museum. Museum will be released in summer 2009. The dramatic story that unfolds, image by image, is the culmination of Jeff’s experience encapsulating people, place and perspective in spontaneous glimpse.
