"Home to the university's department of earth-system science, Croul Hall houses labs and offices for faculty members and graduate students. It also includes a conference facility and the Keck Accelerator Mass Spectronomy Center, dedicated to research on the carbon cycle. During excavation for the building, several unique fossils of small fish were discovered. The fossils date back between 20 million and 40 million years, and are currently at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (<A HREF="/weekly/v50/i29/29b01001.htm">The Chronicle, March 26, 2004</A>).
