"This addition to the Marsh Life Sciences Building houses the university's food-science program in a wing planned with sustainability in mind. Research labs were designed to accommodate food scientists' special requirements, including washable, sealed surfaces; workstations with live steam and electrical power; a walk-in refrigerator; appropriate ventilation; and fume hoods in the biochemical research labs. Etchings in the glass in the south wall reflect the changing of seasons and crops, moving from spring to winter with depictions of grasses, flowers, reeds, and snowflakes. The building received a LEED silver certification. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
