Junto Architects PA is inspired by the fundamental ideals established over 150 years ago when Benjamin Franklin organized a group of friends to provide a structured forum for discussion. The group, initially composed of twelve members, called itself the Junto (Latin for meeting). The members of the Junto were drawn from diverse occupations and backgrounds, but they all shared a spirit of inquiry and a desire to improve themselves, their community, and to help others. The results of the original Junto are still evident today as an integral part of American society.
The practice of architecture inherently is a collaborative effort. Although each architectural project may differ, they typically consist of a client; engineers – civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical; a general contractor and their sub-contractors; and whichever governing body presides over the projects geographic location. It is the role and responsibility of the architect to establish, with the client, the design intent, scope and expectations of each project. Through meetings, drawings, documents, and discussions the architect conveys these expectations to the project group, all the while enlisting their expertise from their respected disciplines into the project. While an architect possesses a vast array of knowledge of each phase of the design/construction process they are an expert in none.
