Kahler Slater, founded 100 years ago, is a design firm whose distinctive philosophy is to design not only environments but the experiences that happen within those environments. They work with clients in the United States and internationally, providing vision and brand alignment, research, architecture, interior design, graphic design and communications services. Kahler Slater is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a second office in Madison, Wisconsin. In 2007, it acquired Performa Higher Education, a national consulting and design group specializing in work for small private colleges and universities, with offices in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Burlington, North Carolina. There are 150 employees across the firm’s four offices. For the last three years in a row, Kahler Slater has been recognized as one of the 25 Best Small Companies To Work For in America in a list compiled annually for HR Magazine by the Great Place to Work® Institute.

High profile work by the firm includes the nationally acclaimed Milwaukee Art Museum Calatrava addition, the historic Skirvin Hotel renovation in Oklahoma City, the University of Wisconsin Kohl Center in Madison, the Massachusetts headquarters for Monster.com, the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, and the San Juan Regional Medical Center in New Mexico. Kahler Slater was selected to design the first Sundance Cinema in the country, located in Madison. The firm has also begun work on a major hotel expansion and renovation in the country of Montenegro.
