"This climate-responsive, energy-efficient, multipurpose building is the home of De Anza's Biological, Health and Environmental Sciences Division. Designed to be a sustainable "green" building, it houses a pollution-prevention lab, an environmental-study area, and a statewide energy-management program, and it relies on solar heating, natural ventilation, and natural lighting, among other technologies, to reduce its energy usage. The building includes indoor and outdoor classrooms and lecture halls, an exhibit hall, faculty offices, and an astronomy observation lab. The college hopes the building will earn a LEED gold rating." — Chronicle of Higher Education
