The 1820 Lansingburgh Academy was a classical school in Lansingburgh, (a former town and village annexed by the City of Troy in 1900) New York just north of the city of Troy from 1820 to 1900, when the building was leased, and later sold, to the local public school district, in 1901 becoming the first Lansingburgh High School. A rear addition was built in 1902. The building was eventually sold to the local library system, and currently serves as the Lansingburgh Branch of the Troy Public Library. Author Herman Melville was a student at the Lansingburgh Academy in 1838.
