The Santa Fe Depot baggage building underwent renovation in 2006 and has been reopened as the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's Jacobs Building, named in honor of museum benefactors Joan and Irwin Jacobs. The building now houses several galleries and serves as the museum's exhibition venue. Along the west edge of the building runs an arched concourse that serves as a major transit hub for regional commuter trains, local trolleys, and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner route as well as for rail connections between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. The baggage building is connected to the new MCASD Copley Building, San Diego, California, built as a part of the same museum expansion that renovated the Jacobs Building.
