MDSzerbaty Associates is a full-service architectural practice with a legacy of award-winning designs that span more than a quarter-century. Former partners and associates to the Bauhaus master Marcel Breuer, architects Herbert Beckhard and Frank Richlan founded the New York firm Beckhard Richlan & Associates in 1982. After joining the firm in 1985, Michael Szerbaty became the firm’s principal in 2003.
Under Mr. Szerbaty’s leadership, the practice, now known as MDSA, reflects a distinctly contemporary evolution of core modernist principles for shaping client programs and spaces and material composition. By embracing a united, non-hierarchical management structure and nurturing client relationships and innovation, Mr. Szerbaty has succeeded in integrating current technologies and methods into highly individual approaches to problem solving.
Our clients include international corporations, renowned institutions of higher education, leading health care organizations, and established centers for culture and religion. We have also developed strong relationships with numerous entities through our design of environments for pre-school, primary, and secondary schools.
