Constructed in 1904 by Charles P. Boland, builder, the McCarthy Building is an important element in the city scape of downtown Troy. The building's most distinctive feature is the proscenium-style arched window across the bottom two stories. Its five story facade made of terra cotta, glass, and iron forms part of the enclosure of Monument Square, on which other notable buildings, such as the Canon Buildin, are located.
