[edit] Focus
McHenry Architecture is a dedicated group of professionals who seek to reflect and enhance the highest architectural values that characterize our region. These values are expressed by projects that surpass the expectations of our clients and creatively respond to the context and environment of each site. Our approach embraces "green" design by creating environmental, economic, health, and community benefits through the consideration of sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. We work to maintain the principles of sustainable design throughout the design process and beyond.
[edit] Projects
Smuttynose Brewery, Hampton, NH - We are currently designing a new brewery complex for the Smuttynose Brewing Company of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It is critical to the success of the project that the building and landscape designs are consistent with the principals of sustainable design. We are exploring energy efficient and sustainable design features throughout the design and construction process with the goal to produce a high quality LEED-certified project.
The project consists of a new brewery facility for the complete production of beer in barrel and bottled form. This requires accommodation for the delivery of materials required for the production, all steps in the manufacture of beer as well as its storage, bottling and shipping.
There will also be a full service restaurant that will include an outdoor dining area. A courtyard and galleria area will connect the brewing, bottling and restaurant functions that will include an open arcade to provide a unifying element to the design of the main public entrance. [1]
18 Congress, Portsmouth, New Hampshire – Based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, our office has completed a number of projects in and around the city over the last twenty years. They have ranged from 18 Congress, a mixed-use five story building in Market Square to adaptive re-use designs for six buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. As a result, our firm has worked continuously with the municipality to gain approvals of projects large and small. Our 18 Congress project is the only new building to have been given an AIA Excellence in Architecture Award in downtown Portsmouth.
