"The new McKinney Green Building, designed by HDR for developer West World Holding, Inc., was completed in April 2006. The building is one of the first in the country to receive a LEED Core & Shell Platinum Certification rating, the highest available through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) rating system."
"Working with a forward-thinking client, HDR incorporated Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques as one way of communicating the unique requirements of sustainable design to the project team as well as the owner. Sharing of information such as 3D visualizations allowed models to evolve, rather than being repeatedly redrawn."
"The building is projected to reduce energy use by over 70 percent from a similar, conventional office building. The 61,000-SF, three-story facility located in McKinney, Texas, a northeastern Dallas suburb, will be leased to tenants. HDR will develop a Green Tenant Guideline to encourage tenants to incorporate sustainable design into their respective space as well. HDR has also worked with the owner, builder, a third-party commissioning company, and consultants to analyze energy conservation and other sustainable design building practices. This allows the team to decide which products, systems, and construction methods will maximize life-cycle costs and benefits for the building."—HDR
