"Located adjacent to the existing Structural Biology Center on the university's West Campus, this laboratory building was designed to be a think tank for researchers in such disciplines as chemistry -- including pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry -- molecular bioscience, mechanical and electrical engineering, computer science, and geology. The building also houses a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory suite for researchers working with hazardous organisms and pathogens, an environmentally stable isotope lab, and clean-room facilities for nanofabrication research. Shared space is intended to foster discussion among people from different disciplines. In addition, the building's basement-level mechanical space will become the central utility plant for the West Campus Research Park. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
