The Lower East Side is a neighborhood of New York, New York, named for its position on the southeastern portion of New York's Manhattan Island.
The historic architecture and neighborhood structure of the Lower East Side was identified by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the 11 Most Endangered places in the United States for 2008.
