In 1981 this building was adapted as the home of the Akron Art Museum by Dalton, van Dijk, Johnson & Partners. In July 2007, a major addition to the museum, designed by Coop Himmelblau, was opened. This addition is adjacent to and connected with the historic Post Office building.
