In May 1907 Frank Oldham contracted with H.W. Madson for "the construction of a two story home on Marvin". Originally constructed as a Georgian style house,it had a two-story porch across the front with a decorated gable and a small porch on the second floor over the main doorway. There was a fireplace in the dining room and another in a corner of the living room. Cost of construction was $1,800. In 1918 and 1919 the tax valuation was $2,750 and in 1920 it increased to $3,000.

In 1923 the design of the home was changed completely with the porches being removed and replaced with broad porches across the front and east elevations. The porches had hip roofs and the side porch was screened. This style is called the American four square.

The design was changed again in 1953 with the front porch being removed and replaced by a small porch with wrought iron supports. The roof section from the broad porch was kept as was the side, screened porch. The fireplaces were removed at this time.

In 1983 the home was returned closely to the 1923 design. This time, however, the porch went across the front, around the corner and down the east side as one complete, broad unit. The pictures show that the owners were very careful to include all of the original architectural details including the transom which had been covered in 1953.
