[edit] Discussion

Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects changed its name to Olson Kundig Architects, effective January 1, 2010. The name Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects had been in use since 2000 but was no longer appropriately reflecting the partnership: Alan Maskin and Kirsten Murray became partners in 2008 and Scott Allen left the firm in 2009 to create Scott Allen Architecture. In addition, Rick Sundberg, who remains as a partner, is in the planning stages for the creation of a new philanthropic organization focused on architecture. —Olson Kundig Architects, announced November 17, 2009

“Living in the Northwest makes us inherently sensitive to nature,” notes Jim Olson, who, with partners Rick Sundberg, Tom Kundig and Scott Allen, heads an 82-person, Seattle-based firm devoted, according to Kundig, “to finding inspiration in the ‘nature of nature,’ with its underlying physical and biological attributes, its efficiencies and invention, and the beauty of its resolution.” Adds Sundberg, “Issues of sustainable design combine very well with our clean, straightforward aesthetic.”- AD 100
