Omaha by Design is a comprehensive urban design plan for the entire city of Omaha. The plan is organized around three themes: Green Omaha, Civic Omaha, and Neighborhood Omaha. The green section of the plan proposes restoring and enhancing Omaha's natural setting of hills, valleys, and streams. The Civic Omaha section proposes design guidelines for areas of the greatest civic importance, civic place districts, and major commercial corridors. The neighborhood section creates neighborhood planning districts, with policies for restoring older neighborhoods, enhancing more recent development by adding neighborhood amenities, and adding guidelines that will give a neighborhood structure to new development.
