"It's hard not to notice the new building perched on Portland's Marquam Hill. With a commanding view of the city, Mount Hood and the Willamette River, the OHSU Hospital Expansion is unquestionably an ideal setting for healing.
Oregon Health & Science University has one central goal: to improve the health and well-being of of people from Oregon and beyond. When completed in Summer 2006, the 335,000-square-foot, 11-story hospital expansion will add much needed space for hospital and outpatient services so we can continue to meet our patients needs. The building will include:
The Center for Women's Health 86 medical, surgical and intensive care beds Eight new state-of-the-art operating rooms (with space for four future operating rooms) A 15,000-square-foot parking garage with space for 450 cars
OHSU believes - and the research shows - that it's not enough just to design an efficient health care facility. Of course we are committed to providing the highest quality of care using the most technologically advanced equipment and procedures. But we are also committed to providing a place for compassionate healing - a place where the patient's emotional and spiritual needs, as well as his or her physical needs, are at the center of everything we do.
Terraced gardens and landscaped courtyards have been designed to offer OHSU's patients, visitors, employees and neighborhood residents beautiful views and relaxing sitting areas. Easy access to walking trails and bike paths that traverse and surround OHSU's hillside campus provide additional outlets to enjoy a little respite and the beauty that Marquam Hill has to offer." — OHSU
