"Research Complex I is the first phase of a 217-acre master plan for the Health Sciences Center's Fitzsimons Campus. The two-building complex has a nine-story biomedical-research building and a 12-story cancer-research tower. The complex is planned around a prototypical laboratory space that is accompanied by flexible support space -- meaning that almost any lab space can accommodate any research program, and that labs can be easily customized to meet users' needs. In addition to 460,000 square feet of lab and support space, the complex includes educational facilities, offices, and a conference area. The design also considers Colorado solar loads and takes advantage of views from the site. " — Chronicle of Higher Education
