Richard W Thom, AIA is a small architectural firm located in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia. The firm was formed in 1988 to pursue practice in architecture, planning, and interior design within the framework of a service-oriented small business. The professional practice is led by Richard Thom, a staple to the community and industry. With over thirty years of worldy experience, Mr. Thom has excelled in historic preservation, institutional, commercial, residential, retail, and hospitality design and construction. Mr Thom also brings a particular emphasis on the adaptive reuse and restoration of older structures, the renovation of commercial and institutional facilities and corporate office interior design. In addition, his background includes large scale programming and space planning involving nationwide site searches and multi-year, phased implementation programs.
The firm work has included feasibility and capital improvement studies, office space planning, and interior design, historic restoration and reuse, deferred maintenance projects and building additions. The practice has a growing list of repeat commissions with satisfied medical, owner/developer and institutional clients throughout the Philadelphia area.
