"The Architect worked with the Smithsonian Institution to transform an existing warehouse into a modern support center that provides collection housing and support services for the Smithsonian. The 360,000-square-foot warehouse space, consolidated programs from five previously separate locations into one facility, located near Washington, DC. New workshops for exhibit fabrication and graphics production, environmentally controlled collections storage, thousands of linear feet of library shelving, a rare book conservation lab, and an on-site security-training center occupy the main level. A new, 13, 0000-square-foot mezzanine houses exhibit design and management staff." - Gensler
