The design of the Natural Science and Math Building at the Clearwater Campus of St. Petersburg College underscores the modest, yet progressive ideology that the existing campus has embraced in both the classroom and in the built environment.
This stand alone building anchors the southwest corner of the campus. Comprised of classrooms, labs, offices and other spaces, the internal spatial design promotes interaction among administration, faculty, and students. The design mirrors the college’s goals of positive relationships across all disciplines, extending into the community.
The project embraces the ambitions of a healthy building and environment, and has been awarded LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Due to the nature of a design-build process, the constant owner-architect-contractor communication allowed for a thorough, yet efficient, building process. The building establishes a powerful precedent for the future sustainable growth and development at this campus.
