[edit] Discussion
The setting for this home is an open, sunny country lane in South Salem NY, with many antique farmhouse residences in the immediate vicinity. An existing home sat on the property and a requirement of the project was to use the existing foundations, as well as to be respectful of the neighboring homes.
The parti suggests a large, simple farmhouse, with no grand pretensions. However, the interior of the design, although alluding to an early 20th century aesthetic, presents very open skylit spaces, with functional heavy timbers supporting the structure.
