Commentary
"This is the second of the four Los Angeles area textile-block houses. Its lowest story contains a variety of work spaces, but the second (public entrance) floor features a two-story-high living room, textile block throughout. One side opens from the hillside perch to a full view of Hollywood, Los Angeles, and the San Bernardino Valley. The other looks onto a courtyard, sunk into the rising hillside...."
William Allin Storrer. The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright: A Complete Catalog. project 215.
The Creator's Words
"In my work the idea of plasticity may now be seen as the element of continuity....Classical architecture was all fixation...now...let walls, ceiling, floors become seen as component parts of each other, their surfaces flowing into each other....Here...principle entered into building as the new esthetic continuity...the new reality that is space instead of matter."
Frank Lloyd Wright. from Vincent Scully, Jr. Frank Lloyd Wright. p18.
