[edit] Why The Design Element
The Design Element provides services similar to other firms such as site planning, planting plans, irrigation design and hardscape design. Aside from these services, what separates us from the rest is….
We revere the art of practicing landscape architecture. We chose our profession because we have a passion for design and a strong desire to make a difference. Living in the Southwestern Desert for several decades, we have acquired a thorough appreciation for the vast and unique elements of the Arizona landscape. It is this appreciation and our commitment to stewardship that fuels our passion to work.
As Stewards of the land we are focused on discovering and implementing new thinking towards creating symbiotic relationships between the human habitat and the natural environment. The design and planning of the urban landscape contributes significantly to the environmental sustainability of our cities and towns and the conservation of local wildlife. We practice with an internally driven urgency knowing that our built environments must become a healthy part of the natural cycles that have been functioning since the beginning of time.
We have strong roots in Arizona, and proudly enjoy a solid reputation built upon a foundation of honesty, hard work, and accountability. Most of our professional and academic development occurred locally in multi-disciplinary environments, which has taught us strong communication skills and how to contribute our strengths to a project team. This background has also instilled in us a spirit of collaboration that has guided us in our careers. We focus our efforts on building strong professional relationships with clients, contractors, and design professionals that we respect. We provide Partner level quality of service in all aspects of our work.
With 95% of our work as repeat business, we pride ourselves in taking care of our clients while remaining affordable. We are grateful for our clients and the work we are a part of therefore giving you all we have to achieve the project goals within the stated budget. The knowledge and wisdom we have gained through experiencing many projects, large and small, from design kick off to final punch-list has made us advocates of project process and proficient in both consensus building and pragmatic problem solving.
Embracing change and constantly improving ourselves is fundamental. Growing and learning both professionally and personally are lifelong aspirations. We encourage innovation and the discovery of original solutions. As we approach sixteen years since graduating from Arizona State University, which marked the beginning of our professional endeavors to provide landscape architectural services to our world, we have shared many successful projects and experiences. Often as teammates, always as peers, and for the last four years as business partners we have frequently embraced constructive change, attentively evolved our unique methods and meticulously reassessed our individual practices to unify our two distinct careers into The Design Element, PLLC.
We are CLARB Certified (the national Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Board) and currently registered to practice landscape architecture in the both the State of Arizona and the State of Colorado.
We love what we do and thrive during all phases of the project to understand the issues and make recommendations leading to well-thought, well-researched solutions.
We have the initiative to seek out and anticipate the problems and strive to make creative recommendations and decisions quickly.
Our sense of urgency ensures design issues and overall project momentum are maintained to stay on track.
We are dynamic and continuously improving. We learn from our experiences and apply the knowledge gained on each new project.
We enjoy working with our clients and look forward to when we get to spend time with them.
We have a strong network of contractors, colleagues, and consultants that assist us when we have a request, especially helpful when we have a unique situation.
“This world is but a canvas to our imagination.”
