"Opened on August 6, 2007 the Cafritz Foundation Art Center is the new home of the School of Art + Design at Montgomery College. The Montgomery College Foundation has received a $3 million donation, the college's largest single donation, to help it turn the former Giant Food bakery building into downtown Silver Spring's latest artistic addition. Montgomery College is renovating existing infrastructure as part of the campus expansion. The old Giant bakery situated between the Health Sciences Center and the site for the Cultural Arts Center is being transformed into the The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Art Center. This building is the home to the School of Art + Design, the Arts and Humanities Department, and the campus computer support system. The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Art Center will have 20 spaces for local artists to rent at reduced cost. In the future horizon, there will be a 350 car garage located at this facility."
