The listed former Post Office Building at 16-22 Waterloo Place was designed by Archibald Elliott and Joseph Kay, and built between 1818-1819 as part of the development which included North Bridge. Damaged by fire in the 1950's and in constant use as a government building, the building had been gutted internally prior to its sale for redevelopment. More details of the ongoing refurbishment and redesign of the building can be found at appointed architects morgan mcdonnell architecture's website.
