Toyo Ito graduated from the University of Tokyo in the Department of Architecture in 1965. After working at Kiyonori Kikutake Architects and Associates, he established his own studio, Urban Robot (URBOT), in 1971, renamed Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects in 1979.
