Commentary
"The building in one of Turku's commercial thoroughfares forms part of a block of older buildings. It accommodates, besides the editorial offices, the printing shops with its ancillary rooms, the management and mailing department as well as apartments for senior executives."

"The office building for a Turku newspaper was the first by Aalto to attract attention from abroad.
"The structural frame is of reinforced concrete and the outer insulating wall is of light-weight concrete. The surface of this porous material was covered with wire netting and covered with a special stucco containing a colour-tinted varnish. Various types of skylights are installed in the flat roof. This was the first time Aalto had experimented with large, round skylights on a conical concrete base. In connection with flat slab construction, the reinforced concrete frame can exhibit either a symmetrical or asymmetrical column arrangement."
