"This new 500-student residential complex consists of four three-story buildings designed to use 45 percent less electricity and 20 percent less water than traditional residence halls -- making it, the university says, the largest green dorm in the world. The buildings rely on natural light, solar panels, and green roofs, and have high-efficiency washing machines and dryers. Included in the complex is a 9,000-square-foot "learning center" that can accommodate classes, meetings, and conferences. The university has applied for a LEED certification.
