Zaha Hadid has selected Fibre C as the material of choice to clad her design of the Zaragoza Bridge Pavilion - the new symbol of the international EXPO 2008 event in Zaragoza, Spain.

The new icon of the international exhibition EXPO 2008 will be a Pavilion Bridge enveloped by [fibreC]. Located in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, the EXPO Main Pavilion will be a symbol for the EXPO as well as a functional pavilion for exhibits relating to the the event's theme: "Water and Sustainable Development."

The Zaragoza Bridge Pavilion will be an architectural and engineering marvel, designed by world famous architect Zaha Hadid in conjunction with Ove Arup Engineers London.

The design will function as a bridge for pedestrians across the Ebro River, an entrance to the EXPO area and a multi-level exhibition area – all set above the water. The bridge will span a length of over 900 feet, and the pavilion will be enveloped with a complex pattern of 29,000 triangular [fibreC] elements in different shades of grey - to create an effect like shiny fish scales that shimmer in the sunshine and reflect the varied facets of the water.

During the three months of the world exhibition, more than 7.5 million people are expected to visit the bridge and surrounding venues.
